Celebrate with Us the Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help

You are loved! Let this remarkable declaration be heard far and wide!  You are loved unconditionally.  Jesus, our Savior, gave you his own mother to be your mother.  Through her, you are protected, constantly prayed for, and taught to more fully love.

Gaze upon her loving face, in the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.  Mary smiles at you, calling you to her.  She stands before you presenting in her hands the Word of God in the form of the child Jesus. She, the world’s first disciple and evangelist, offers Him to everyone. Mary is not only the Mother of the Redeemer, she is also the Mother of the Redeemed—you and me.

She asks you to center your life on Him, the Christ, as she has.  I know this message full well, because I have devoted my life to it as a Redemptorist.  I have made her message my own throughout my life, as I hope you have and will.

Mary has always been with us, yet it has only been 150 years since her miraculous icon was given to the Redemptorists.  You and I, along with millions around the world, jubilantly celebrate that revelation today!  We honor the Mother of God, who is always our Perpetual Help.  For God who is mighty has done great things for us, through her intersession.

Share her message of Good News.  You are loved.  Your family is loved.  Your neighbors are loved.  All can see the entirety of the gospel spelled out in the icon of Perpetual Help.  You and I are called to make her known, sharing this Salvation with all.

How can you make Our Mother of Perpetual Help known?  Share her icon.  Wear her image.  Perform charitable acts in her name.  And most importantly, seek her powerful intercession—for your family, and friends, for the people in the world who have not yet accepted her love.  I ask you today to light a candle for each person you know who needs to accept Mary’s offering of her Son.

Together, we will make this a true Jubilee by lighting up the world in love!
