Frater Scott Partin Professes Perpetual Vows
During a special celebration for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15, the Redemptorists of the Denver Province welcomed Scott Partin into their community. Scott made a lifelong commitment to follow Christ as a Redemptorist by professing his perpetual vows at St. Alphonsus Parish in Brooklyn Center, MN. The celebration was led by Very Rev. Kevin Zubel, Provincial Superior, who warmly accepted Scott’s commitment. Witnesses to this significant event included Fr. Aaron Meszaros, Vicar Provincial, and Fr. John Schmidt, pastor of St. Alphonsus.
A celebration hosted by the Council of Catholic Women after the ceremony at Seelos Hall gave Scott an opportunity to express gratitude to everyone for their support and presence. Originally from Baton Rouge, Scott spent 17 years living in New Orleans, where he began volunteering at the National Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos. His experiences there inspired him to learn more about the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, which he officially joined in 2018.
Scott was a postulant at the Pre-Novitiate Formation House at Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in the Bronx and attended St. John’s University in Queens, NY in 2018-2020. He completed his novitiate during the COVID years from 2020 to 2021 at St. Michael Church in Old Town, Chicago. He professed temporary vows on June 27, 2021, the Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. From 2021 to 2025, Scott continued his formation at the North American Redemptorist Theologate in San Antonio from 2021 to 2025, when he earned his Master of Divinity from the Oblate School of Theology.
As a candidate for the priesthood, Scott completed his pastoral year serving six months in Ciudad Obregón, Mexico, followed by another six months at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center. From June 15 to July 11, Scott’s preparation for final vows (Second Novitiate) took place at the San Alfonso Retreat House
in Long Branch, NJ. Scott looks forward to his ordination to the diaconate in late September and receiving the Sacred Order of the Presbyterate in 2027. He is grateful to be a life-long member of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, dedicated to bringing the gospel to the poor and most abandoned. With a joyful and humble heart, Scott expresses his gratitude to his family for their support and prayers, and to all who have supported and prayed for him on his vocation journey.
