Welcome to Our Newest Redemptorists
The Redemptorists are blessed to have a new group of deacons. Deacon Steven Urban, C.Ss.R. of Denver, and Deacons Paul Xaun Nguyen, Vincent Gerard Thanh Van Nguyen, Vincent Martine Tinh Tri Nguyen of Vietnam Extra Patrium were ordained on August 2. These men completed their initial formation and will move to full-time ministry in preparation for priestly ordination. They are not ‘done’ with formation but continue learning and developing as Redemptorists. Please remember them in your prayers and thank you for journeying with them.
At the heart of the formation process is a person seeking God’s call to follow Christ, to walk in his footsteps and to so bring the gospel to people. This year, the Jubilee Year of Hope, reflects how we are called to nurture the seeds of the gospel in our daily lives. The seeds are hope and faith, love and peace, service, and witness to the Redeemer. A question I ask: how do you or I nurture hope, peace, service, and witness? A Christian life begins with Christ’s invitation to follow him. We won’t bring about world peace, but we can be apostles of peace in our lives, and the lives of people close to us. Consider this year how you are an apostle of the Christian gospel and how Christ impels you to action.
On July 20, the feast of the Most Holy Redeemer, we welcomed our own Cody Hill and Andrew Tran-Chung (Denver Province), Son Lai and Dang Nguyen (Baltimore Province), and Efraín Bergsaí (Mexico Province) into the Congregation. It was a beautiful occasion marked with all the Units from the North American Conference coming together to celebrate with our newest confreres and their families. This profession was also quite special for the Denver Province as it was the first “First Profession” of Denver novices in Mexico. We gathered at Tempo Santisimo Redentor in the heart of Mexico City. Provincial Superior Joaquin Najera, C.Ss.R., of the Mexico Province presided at the joyous Mass, and our own Provincial Superior Kevin Zubel, C.Ss.R., preached.
Learn More about the Redemptorist & Their Founder St. Alphonsus
As we celebrate St. Alphonsus’s feast day, we invite you to learn more about St. Alphonsus and his many spiritual works, and to reflect on and benefit from the enduring legacy which God has granted to our Congregation through St. Alphonsus. This Doctor of the Church has bequeathed us a charism which is ever-relevant. It is a charism which still inspires and motivates young people to join us in many parts of the world. It is a charism that unites all Redemptorists in solidarity together with our associate religious Sister Congregations and lay partners in the Mission.
